Andrea Gedrasik is a Canadian soprano hailing from Lethbridge, Alberta.  She holds both a Master of Music in Opera and Musical Theatre Performance under Dr. Billie Hagemeier (vocal instructor) and Dr. Paul Transue (vocal coach) as well as a Master of Music in Vocal Performance under Dr. Diane Coloton (vocal instructor) and Dr. Paul Transue, both from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.  It was here that she developed a love of teaching music theory, having had the opportunity to work under Dr. Eric Lenz as a graduate assistant in the Theory Department.  She completed her undergraduate work under David Playfair at Brandon University in 2008, where she began teaching voice lessons to students of all ages and experience levels.

 

Since 2016 Ms. Gedrasik has travelled the world as a cruise ship vocalist, after having worked throughout Canada and the Mid Western United States, performing and giving Master Classes on audition techniques.

 

A versatile musician, Ms. Gedrasik has experience in multiple genres; including opera, art song, pop, rock, musical theatre, oratorio and jazz.  Some of her favourite roles include Musetta (La Bohème ) Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro), Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte), Leatitia (The Old Maid and The Thief), Polly (Crazy for You), Marta (Company) and Eve (The Creation).

 

She has also performed in various unstaged works including singing Puccini arias while sailing the Grand Canal in Venice, performing at Chicago's Orchestra Hall for the inauguration of Southern Illinois University Chancellor Rita Cheng; numerous guest vocalist performances with the Southern Illinois Symphony Orchestra and the Southern Illinois University Studio Jazz Orchestra; as well as many solo recitals throughout Canada and the United States.
